An uneventful night at work

When not being a photographer, I have another career working in a local emergency room.
Well after a long evening I found myself sittting around without any
patients in the department and decided to pull my camera out. I
figured that since I'm always taking pictures of people that I would
try something a little different.

I call this one..."Tools of the Trade". Oh so original....haha

Festival Week!

This past weekend was wonderful! It started out with a commercial shoot for Bonsai sushi bar downtown Lafayette. After the owner Paul treated me to some awesome sushi we closed the place and with spectators outside shot a girl covered with sushi to promote their upcoming grand opening.

On Thursday night I had a chance to do something I haven't done in years....that was to go listen to a damn good zydeco band. Geno Delafose was playing at River Ranch. It was a lot of fun to feel the energy of their music and watch everyone dancing. I realized how much I miss going listen to a good live band so made sure the rest of the weekend was just as fun.
Friday night a few of us went to Downtown Alive and got to listen to Zackery Richard play and got to see a lot of old friends that I hadnt seen in years. After Downtown Alive we went to Bonsai just up the street and was surprised to see the picture I took already displayed on the monitors in the bar. Kind of weird seeing my work on display for the public and funnier to hear people talking about it...lol

Saturday was just a blast. We headed to Festival Acadian and had such a great time. Second time that week we got to hear Geno Delafose and get to see some awesome dancers dancing like theres no tomorrow. After the festival we drove south to Lafayette to listen to Geno play for the Cattlemans festival. After that we came back to Lafayette to hang out at Blue Moon and listen to Cedric Watson who gave a wonderful performance.

Then early Sunday morning we headed to New Iberia to the Gumbo Cookoff. Had some really good food and seen some good friends....oh and some more Geno Delafose!!!LOL

There was talk about going to listen to more bands on the River Sunday afternoon, but that was about. I think we had our fair share of fun for the weekend. I look forward to doing it again soon.

It was a lot of fun getting to hang out with my friends Tammy and Will, as well as getting to make new ones!

Lorrae and Leon kicking up some dust and doing better than anyone else! Actually got to meet Lorrae...she seems like a great person. Sure wish I could dance as good as these guys!

I hope at this mans age I can be going as strong as he is.

Here are some pics of Geno Delafose and his band performing.

Alonda and Mario's Wedding!

The past several weeks have been stressful for everyone in my family. While leaving for hurricane Gustav, my mother became severely ill. She was admitted into a hospital in Shreveport and 4 days later transferred back to nearby where we live in Lafayette.
Her hospitalization prevented her from attending my niece Alonda's wedding (her granddaughter) unfortunately...which just broker her heart. She may not have been there physically, but in our hearts she couldnt have been there more.
The day started off unfortunately with a drunk driver crossing the center line and hitting Mario( the groom) and David(father of the bride) head-on, just 3 hours before the wedding. After a short hospitalization the wedding went on as scheduled.
The wedding was just amazing! Everyone just had a blast. I took a few pictures and wanted to share them with you. Please note I was there to celebrate the event and not there to take professional pictures.

This picture is of the rosary my mother made that Alonda carried with her at the wedding.

This is Alonda talking to Mario just moments after the accident....this was the most intense moment of the day.
What a beautiful couple!!! I love both of them!

Jason Cohen a good friend, awesome person and an amazing photographer!

Hurricane Gustov

Well looks like Louisiana will take a hard hit from Hurricane Gustav. The last two days have been rather hectic preparing for it....seems like I didn't do anything for myself though to get ready....oh well!
The plan is to head north. Since my mother is very sick battling cancer, we bought an RV to make her more comfortable. We are leaving sometime in the morning with a lil caravan of family following.
I was scheduled to work at the hospital, however Jason that I work with was so wonderful as to take my shifts Monday and Tuesday night. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't be able to be with my mother at this time of need. Knew Jason was a good guy...in my mind he is a saint putting himself out to allow me to be with my very ill mother. Thank You Jason!!!!
Leave a comment where you will be and how your doing.
